| The “Tape Monitor” button is engaged. Tape M should not be displayed unless you are playing a cassette. |
Press the TAPE MONITOR button on the front of your receiver. |
| The “Speaker” button is turned off. |
Press the SPEAKER button on the front panel of the receiver. |
| No Sound with Flashing or Blinking (O1, C1, C2 or Optical) lights on front panel. |
If you see something Blinking or Flashing on the front panel of your receiver this means that you have the incorrect settings and therefore will not get sound. |
You will need to press the “Digital Input” button on the front panel of the receiver until the sound comes back in or until the flashing stops. If the sound does not engage and the light continues to flash? You will need to enter the setup mode of the device connected so that it outputs the correct signal. You should follow the instructions for the device connected. |
| No sound from the surround speakers |
Surround mode is switched off (stereo mode). |
Select a surround mode. |
| Master volume on the surround levels are too low. |
Adjust master and surround level. |
| A monaural source is used. |

The Center channel level may be adjusted too low or turned off. |
Check the Channel selector and adjust the level if needed. |

Check the connections and connect all cords securely. |

| Receiver shuts off. |
The speaker wires are shorted out (touching each other) or there is a defective speaker connected to the receiver. |
Disconnect all the speakers and turn the receiver On again. If it continues to shut down there is a possible defect to this receiver. If it turns on and stays On, connect one speaker at a time until the receiver shuts down again. Once you find the speaker that is causing the unit to shut down investigate the wiring connection and speakers to determine what’s at fault. |
| Hum Noise |
Video connection could be plugged into an Audio Input on the receiver. |
Be sure that you do not connect any of the Yellow (video) RCA jacks into an Audio Input. |
| Power source used may be dirty. |
Try a different wall outlet and keep the RCA connections at least 18 inches away from the power lines. |
